The ultrasound probe is miniaturized.
It is placed on an endoscope inserted through the mouth into the esophagus to be closer to the heart and better visualize different cardiac structures.
The patient lying on the patient table must have been fasting for more than 6 hours.
Local throat anesthesia is performed with an anesthetic gel swallowed a few minutes before the exam.
